''Rebirth'' - Romina Meriç

“Rebirth” is the latest evolution of a visual metaphor that Romina has been visiting in her works since 2019. That year she made an object titled ‘Seed’s Cracked’ as she was exploring solid materials such as hard wax, metals, and stones. ‘Seed’s Cracked’ was a metaphor for a visceral mass cracking and breaking open and - as a result of the deformation - revealing a newfound value from within its core.

In our latest collaboration with Romina, we used an experimental marbling method, along with more traditional etching techniques such as aquatint and à la poupée. We used the marbling method to create a fluid underwater environment. The artist hand colored the details on each edition. This evolution of the work represents being reborn from inside of a heart, as well as birthing something out of one’s own heart.
